The Story

Built for Another Era, Restored for Yours

Nestled among the green hills of Kandy, the residence was built in the colonial era as a family bungalow — a place of long verandas, cool high ceilings and gardens designed for slow afternoons.

For generations its rooms have welcomed planters, travellers, families and friends. Today, after a careful restoration that preserved its original timber, tiles and proportions, the bungalow opens its doors to guests who wish to experience Kandy as it once was: gracious, unhurried and deeply hospitable.

Through the Years

1920s
A Bungalow Is Built

Constructed in the colonial style with a red clay-tile roof, deep verandas and timber fretwork, set within a tropical garden above Kandy.

A Family Home

The bungalow becomes a beloved family residence — a place of gatherings, festivals and afternoon tea on the lawn.
Restoration
Preserving the Past

Original floors, doors and windows are carefully restored by local craftsmen, and antiques are gathered to furnish every room.

The Façade

Classic gabled roofline, terracotta tiles and white-washed walls framed by timber fretwork and a welcoming front veranda.

Kandy was the seat of the island's last kings and remains its cultural heart. Stay with us to experience Kandyan dance, the drums of the Temple of the Tooth at dusk, and — each July or August — the spectacular Esala Perahera, when elephants and dancers fill the streets.
